LOCATION:
European Union (Brussels, Belgium)
AREA OF WORK:
Recommendations for cultural organizations and for policy makers.
TYPE OF PARTNERSHIP:
Attendees of the brainstorming meetings whom are later participated in writing the report were 53 European cultural organisations, all of whom have previously worked on the relationship between mental health and culture in some form.
TYPE OF ACTIONS IMPLEMENTED:
More than 53 cultural organizations were invited from all over Europe to participate in a structured dialogue on the following topics:
- Evidence on the contribution of the cultural and creative sectors to improving the mental health and well-being of young people, at national and international level.
- Synergies with other policy fields (health, education, social welfare, etc.) to maximize results.
- Examples of interventions where there is robust evidence of successful outcomes, particularly for disadvantaged young people. Conditions for success of such interventions. Following the meeting, participants wrote a report summarising recommendations for cultural organizations and for policy makers as well. The report was presented to the European Commission in the framework of a Dialogue Meeting.
LEVEL OF COOPERATION AMONG ACTORS INVOLVED:
Cooperation between cultural organizations in EU.
WHAT INSPIRES US?:
What is inspiring for us in this project is that it builds a knowledge base at European level that is niche. It brings together expertise in the field of arts and wellbeing, which is something that is not yet common across Europe.
